Ages Served

Children one year old through pre-kindergarten five-year olds may attend. Children are divided by age, development and class size. Classes vary in size from 8 to 12 children with 2 teachers in each room.

Calendar & Operating Days

Playschool & Pre-K meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 2:30pm and follows the Putnam City School District Calendar for holidays, snow days, etc.
Classes begin in August and continue through May. A short Summer Session is offered.

Throughout the year, we have special activities.
- A Community Helper visits each month:fireman, librarian, nurse, policeman, dental hygienist, veterinarian, and more.
- A Special highlights are planned monthly including a trip to our Pumpkin Patch, Thanksgiving feast, Teddy Bear day, PJ’s & Pizza day, a visit from the nature center or petting zoo, fun, game day, and more.
- Special days to celebrate with parents include a breakfast time with Dad, one with Mom, and our end of the year program in May.

All classes are led by two trained teachers who have been carefully screened and interviewed. All teachers attend monthly planning meetings and continue their education by attending preschool education workshops.
Teachers share songs, stories, and Bible thoughts as they explore monthly themes using the faith based 'Wee Learn' curriculum. Learning centers include art, blocks, books, manipulatives, home living, and nature.
Each Tuesday Preschoolers learn learn fun, active songs during a music class. On Thursdays, movement classes provide opportunities to develop large motor skills.
The Pre-K classes (3's and 4's) follow guidelines set out by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

Children bring their own lunches, including a drink, to Playschool. "Finger-type" foods are encouraged. Lunches cannot be warmed up or refrigerated.

All students will have a rest time following lunch. They are not required to sleep, but are asked to rest quietly while listening to music.

Parents are encouraged to dress their children in comfortable play clothes and shoes and to send a change of clothing each time they come to Playschool.

Enrollment for both summer and the following fall opens to the public the first week of April
Parents wishing to view the facilities, make inquiries, or enroll their children should contact the Family Ministries Office at 773-6913.
Enrollment is complete when the proper forms have been filled out and returned with an enrollment fee.
