ll Corinthians 1:3-4 says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."  The word comfort in those  verses means, "to come along side."  Our God does that for us and for those in need.  The Benevolence Team at Putnam City Baptist Church is dedicated to be God's comforters to those in our community facing crisis in their lives.

These dedicated volunteers on the Benevolence Team serve in various functions, including distributing food through the in-house pantry and interviewing applicants to determine if the church might be able to assist them with other needs such as a one-time help with a utility bill.  All interviews are done by appointment and are confidential.

The Benevolence Team helps people because of our love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and our love for others.  Jesus said in Matthew 25:35-36, 40: "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you invited me in; I needed clothes and you clothed me; I was in prison and you came to visit me ..... I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

The PCBC Benevolence team represents the entire church body as we seek to obey our Lord's command.  The Benevolence Ministry telephone number is 773.6914.
